Dr. Eduardo Sanchez - the Chief Medical Officer for Prevention for the American Heart Association - described physical activity or exercise as "the magic elixir of health."
In a recent webinar (Physical Activity as a Vital Sign, Nov. 17, 2015 sponsored by Garmin), Dr. Sanchez explained that his "magic elixir of health" phrase stems from a statement he "just loves." The statement he "just loves" is, ". . . there is no single medication that can positively influence as many organ systems (cardiorespiratory, vascular, musculoskeletal, mental, metabolic) as can physical activity."
"Today's the Day." Those three words have been dominant at Flaman Fitness in the past year. But for the national fitness company, they are not just a slogan, but a powerful message that Flaman wants to spread to all Canadians.
For me there are just certain things that I 'need' in order have a great workout:
Good Running Shoes
This is an absolute must. If you are finishing your workout and the bottom of your feet are hurting or are extremely sore, chances are you don't have on proper shoes. For me I really like Asics running shoes but I found they fell apart in the heel quickly.
Well, I can say there was no tears and with how cold it was only a bit of sweat, but there sure was a TON of mud!
What an awesome event!! I am just so excited to tell you guys all about it! When I signed up for this mud race Ready to do Anything... Even Mudd!
It was not an easy conclusion for them to arrive at.
Early in 2015, Flaman Fitness loaned a Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE home gym and a TC20 TreadClimber to a 4thyear University of Saskatchewan College of Kinesiology class.
I am not going to pretend I wasn't awkward, I was. I did a whole lot of weird things with my hands and said sentences that really didn't get finished. I even lost my footing on my machine once when walking and talking. BUT it all must have resonated with viewers because WE SOLD OUT and everyone I got the chance to meet at The Shopping Channel was so excited about how it went and how I did. Which, wow, is so crazy.
Last week I was in Toronto for a very quick 24 hours doing my training with The Shopping Channel. Honestly, it was so helpful and I was really glad it was done two weeks in advance. If you're curious, I did cry when telling my story to my trainer... when I am nervous and speaking to someone that doesn't already know me trying to explain who I was, it just crushes me.
Sometimes it's the smallest decisions that really impact your life, that change everything so quick you don't even understand until after it happens. This is what happened for me. I ordered a Treadclimber and it has now changed everything! Trust me I know that sounds cliche... as I was typing it I thought 'ah really, use any other wording!' But I can't… it really has changed everything!
A lot of food guides and nutrition labels are well intended, but they are sort of like showing a person the alphabet and then expecting them to read a book. They've forgotten the "how" portion of things. It's also like trying to learn to swim from reading a book – it leads to a lot of disasters. Or it's like saying "Win games and then you win championships." But how do you win the games?
When we went to LA in May of 2014 to shoot my Treadclimber commercial with Bowflex, everyone was talking about this new 'Max Trainer' that had just been rolled out.
