The 411 on my upcoming book, Finding Your Fit....part 2

To catch you up, Finding Your Fit is "A Compassionate Trainer's Guide to Making Fitness a Lifelong Habit: it provides readers with practical tools that will allow them to connect the dots between wanting to make a health and fitness change and actually making it. Finding Your Fit is the "anti–Biggest Loser" handbook for realistic, lifelong health: a motivational handbook with realistic strategies and practical information to help readers initiate and then follow through and adopt a long-term healthy lifestyle."

A Kettle What?

Kettlebells may have an odd name and look kind of funny - sort of like a cannonball with a handle - but used correctly they can actually be very useful (and fun).

Here are three great reasons to try them, what to do, and some photos to help.

Finding Your Fit

So, I wrote a book! It is called Finding Your Fit. Needless to say, I am pretty excited! The book hits stores October 1st, 2016. I feel like a kid getting ready for Christmas; I am counting down the days until I can walk into Indigo and say "Where would I find Kathleen Trotter's new book?" I am assuming the answer will be "In the health and wellness section," but maybe I will get lucky and it will be on one of the "staff recommendation" tables. Fingers crossed!

SHHHH Want to know a Secret ?

So I'm sure most of us have heard of "The Secret". The book is no secret but its idea really does work! There is one thing they don't like to focus on though and that's the work part.

Kathleen approved "do anywhere" workouts - the cottage edition!

This is part three - and final - of my "do anywhere" workout series! The main take-away from all three installments is - "don't use the pull of relaxing on a dock, traveling, or drinking on a patio as an excuse to become a sloth! It is possible enjoy summer AND maintain your fitness! The key is to have a few workouts in your back pocket that you can literally do anywhere — in a hotel room, in your living room, or even on the dock at the cottage".

In part one I shared the "joy" of tabata intervals. In part two I outlined my "10 by 1 minute" workout and how to do "11's".

For this final installment I have developed two cottage specific workouts; one cardio workout for the lake, and one interval / strength workout to do on the dock. Don't have a cottage? No problem, try the cardio workout in a pool, or do the interval / strength workout in your backyard or hotel gym.

How to get off the sofa and out the front door

If I had to pick the most important thing I've learned over the past couple of years, it would be, "No matter how good, how accessible, or how cheap a piece of fitness equipment is, if a person does not 'start' or 'want to start,' then nothing happens. I've even wirtten about it here "

This is why I love a new book to be released this October by Canada's fitness information leader - Kathleen Trotter – as it addresses this very issue. It is entitled, "Finding Your Fit; A Compassionate Trainer's Guide to Making Fitness a Lifelong Habit."

This time I am outlining how to do my "10 by 1 minute" workout and "11's". Both are convenient yet effective workouts that you can do anywhere. Basically, with these workouts you have no excuse to be inactive!

Maintaining your routine during vacation

I recently was on vacation, or a "staycation" as lots of people have come to call it. And trying to stay in routine (if you're in one) fitness wise, is definitely a challenge. Motivation at times sort of flies out the window, workouts start to be skipped, but worst of all, your eating habits become lack luster at best. But it's not a bad thing. It's perfectly fine to take a break every once in a while with both the eating right and performing any workouts. But of course you don't want all of your progress/gains to go right out the window either.
