Everyone is entitled to a rough day. A rough week. A bump in the road. But it's about how you deal. Sometimes that's part of being strong – it is just a different kind of strength. I see this sometimes with my clients when they fall into a rut and I often tell them that maybe they need change. Change is good. So last week I was feeling under the weather, being female can be crappy at times. I worked hard but felt drained and unwell all week. I made sure I got enough rest and proper nutrition this week, so I figured I had had enough. I was taking back as much control of myself as I could.
And that brought me to turning the page, changing things up. Yoga always works for me. It's been awhile since I have gone, so I got myself back there, laced up my running shoes and went for a run. I have implemented a few new spurts of activity and change in my day to take charge. No one will do this for me, I have to do it myself, so let's get moving. I am a huge believer in the power of movement. It can relieve pain, calm the mind and refocus you. Lifting has been good and I think my added changes this week have helped.
Someone asked me 'why?' I answered 'why not?' I can, even though it's easier to some days not do that extra yoga session or run through a tabata. My body feels great, and my mind feels more at ease. Maybe I will challenge myself and look for another new thing next week. It might be simple as finding a new walking route or time, it may be a tougher challenge.
The quote "you have to be the change you want to see..." ok, that makes sense.
So if we all made one small change....
Changes happen in training so you can grow stronger. So creating changes in lifestyle and routine will make room for growth as well. So far, so good!
